Rock Point School seeks an English teacher to teach grades 9 - 12. Rock Point is a small, independent day and boarding school, serving students with a variety of learning profiles, who have struggled to find school success. Our supportive community offers them a chance to build their confidence and find their voice, in and out of the classroom. Our program emphasizes social/emotional growth, and considers relationships as foundational for making progress. We approach students as whole people, and we consider the work they are doing to build self-confidence, self-advocacy skills, resilience, and healthy habits, to be of utmost importance. The right candidate for this position will have a passion for the subject, and be interested in engaging with students in a variety of ways throughout the school day. We are seeking educators who also have experience supporting students in a capacity that may not be strictly academic. Our academic program emphasizes transferable skills, executive functioning skills, and utilizing course content to guide students in developing habits for school success. Students in a given class often have a wide range of skills and abilities, so accommodating and differentiating both instruction and assessment are a key piece of this role. The English teacher will have autonomy and flexibility to develop their own curriculum and will be supported by a close-knit team of teachers. We seek candidates with creative and critical approaches to teaching English, and are particularly interested in teachers who center the voices and experiences of people from marginalized groups. Rock Point School is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
